If you want to understand Apache Junction you might as well start at Hitchin' Post. The burgers are pretty good and if you like country music, two-stepping, and watching people be thrown from live bulls, you will love this place. I'm into just the burgers part. So, while I won't be back, I am glad I went there once to see what all the fuss was about.

This place is bad, bad, bad. Terrible pizza. It is like a frozen supermarket pizza(maybe worst). Too many professional drinkers soaking up too much booze. Many of them get belligerent and rude! My advise: DON'T GO!

Rude, uneducated staff. Not much of a drink selection other than a few domestic beers. Liquor selection was terrible. Bathroom was dirty and disgusting. Only cool thing about this place is the huge chicken photo op. Take your pic and keep driving by this place. Not worth your time or money.

Food was great. Heard there was live music at 5. Music started at about 5:25. Took a break at 5:50. Wish I could have had a job where I can take a break after 25 minutes! Music is free. Guess you get what you pay fir.

I visited The Hitching Post once about a year ago and found this recent visit was a repeat of the first. It's in a really cool spot with the inside and out looking to have the makings of a great place but it ends there. First off, If you're a woman don't go here by yourself. This place pretty much caters to professional drinkers that don't seem to get it that you're not there to see them. (rapey uncle types) On that note, If you want service you pretty much have to interrupt the waitstaff from having a great time with the regulars as you'll be ignored if you don't. The food was mediocre at best. (though I've heard lunch is OK?) It really reminded me of college cafeteria food only served to you a lot slower. We came here hoping for a girls night out with drinks and good times but couldn't get our tab fast enough (literally) and collectively left for somewhere else creeped out. We found more than one welcoming place down the road for us that saved the night for us. It's safe to say that NONE of us are going anywhere near the Hitching Post again.

The burgers were very good! Great atmosphere with pretty good service. All in my group enjoyed their food. Cheese curds and fried zucchini were also terrific appetizers. Didn't stay too late but it looked like it is a pretty good place to come for drinks in the evening.

Did i just get charged 4.10 for a 16oz Coors banquet beer in the bottle????? Thats what it said on my bill 1/24/15 Seriously hitching post??? No wonder everyone was drinking the bottom of the barrel buckets of mini bud lights. Please explain.... :)

Went to Apache Junction to have lunch at another place but ended up here. Service was good and the food was equally as good. We sat outside under the grass hut umbrellas and enjoyed he warm AZ weather.

THE SERVICE SUCKS. We had a party of 6 and after an hour, we got our food. One guy in the party walked out. The owner came out and pretty much told us he didn't need our money and not to come back. For being mediocre food, he sure had a shitty attitude. You'll get better service at McDonalds and the food will be better. THIS PLACE BLOWS.

On the way up to a hike in the Superstitions my friends and I passed a sign that said "broasted chicken," which kind of set me aback for a moment. I thought to myself, "Roasted, broiled, roasted by a bro?" I didn't really know, nor did I suspect I would ever have any more information on the subject. Then we stopped and ate at the Hitching post after a short hike at the Garden Loop. Prices - Calzone - 8.99 Burgers 7-9 Pizza 10-18? I wasn't certain. Starters 4-7. The Hitching Post is right next to some fuel pumps and has a large rooster out front. Once inside it kind of has a western saloon feel. A little dull and drab. The menu was surprisingly diverse, although overtly unhealthy, I'm sure, the food offerings were things that I'd want. Some of the starters were interesting such as 'fried chicken gizzard,' 'broasted potato wedges' and the like. Their main offerings fell into the category of pizza although they also have this broasted chicken and some burger options that you have to look at the back page fold out to find. The waitress that worked with us was incredibly knowledgeable and to the point with the menu, which made the experience better. According to her broasted chicken is placed in a pressure cooker with a certain amount of canola oil so that the chicken is basically flash fried from what I gather, locking in the juices. Based on her description we were persuaded to get some wings, (I think 6 were $6). The wings were solid. I paired that with a sausage and pepperoni calzone that was slightly greasy, heavy on the cheese and overall incredibly tasty. My friends (3) chose the 16" Tumbleweed pizza - (onions, jalapenos, and something else I believe). The slices were gratuitous and it easily fed the three of them. They also have approximately 5-6 draft beers available that come in mason jars. The hefeweizen was rather tasty on a warm day. They also have outdoor seating, but it is not covered.

Dear God...anyone that thinks this is good pizza has not had good pizza. We travel for a living, and spend three months every year (for the last 15 yrs.) in the Chicago area...and no offense to Becky m, but Chicago-style pizza IS deep-dish. Hitching Post is New York style, and a pretty bad representation at that. We gave both locations a try, had naked wings, broasted wings, broasted chicken, two different combo appetizer platters, and two different pizzas. Platters were average deep-fried Sysco fare...not bad, but nothing special. The broasted wings/chicken were cooked perfectly, but absolutely and utterly bland, tasted like little to no salt and pepper were used in the batter or the bird, let alone a nice 24 hour brine or buttermilk soak. The naked wings were atrocious, if you are a hot wing fan, avoid these like the plague, they're horrible. Pizzas were, again bland, bland, bland. They had cold beer, so I threw in a star for 'em.

There are very few places in the valley where you can get a truly great and authentic Chicago style pizza. I will admit that I've not been to every pizza place in the Valley, but the last place that I expected to find pizza this good was on Highway 88 in Apache Junction. My family and I decided to try it when it first re-opened, back in the early summer. We weren't expecting much, but were happily surprised with the place. It's like a mix between a family pizza joint and a dive bar. And I mean that in a positive way - the place is incredibly friendly, and families are welcome, but come Friday and Saturday night, it functions as a bar. The live music is good too - I'm not that much of a fan of country/western, but I still have a great time. Ok, ok. The pizza. My family is from Chicago. We know great Chicago pizza. Apparently, so does the cook (who's from Chicago too). The crust is perfect and crispy (NEVER soggy), the sauce is just right, and the toppings are bountiful. My dad and grandpa love the Hitching Post pizza - plenty of veggies and meat. My mom and I are big fans of their veggie pizza. To be clear, I'm not talking about a Chicago style deep dish pizza - the Hitching Post doesn't do those. They also have great appetizers, hamburgers, and sandwiches. I've had a few different appetizers of theirs - I especially like the fried zucchini. It's got a great breading and isn't too greasy. There is a full bar with beers on tap other than the usual Bud and MGD. My family usually orders a pitcher of Kiltlifter with the meal. I'd especially recommend a pitcher if you're going to drink more than one beer with more than two people. The new ownership of The Hitching Post really shows. The place is great, and I'd recommend for anyone in the Apache Junction area to stop by for a great meal.

My family and I went there the other day..The kids had a pizza...half cheese.. half sausage..they disliked the sausage..My hubby had a chicken sandwich...he said it was ok...I had chicken tenders...they were very greasy, very thin, kinda like chewing on leather...didn't even come with fries...not very good at all...My son went to the restroom...came back to the table and said "Mom, if you have to go, wait till we get home...they are bad". So, I waited...Not a very clean place...But what else is around there? not much! We don't ever need to go back!

Long few days at the Tucson Glass Flame off. Stopped by Hitching Post for a bacon cheese burger pizza to go. Had a couple of Kiltlifters on tap while we waited. Clean and friendly with great pizza. Inside is deco'ed like an old western town theme. Even a patio with a view of the Superstitions. Again great pizza!

Worst experience I have ever had. The old bartender with blond hair was rude from the moment we walked in. I carried a bottle of water with me because it is hot and it was just water. The bartender rudely tells me (not asks),"Can't have that in here!"From there it was downhill. So I take it outside and I not say a word to her. Unfortunately she ends up being our server as well. When I receive my food I decided I wanted a lemonade. She goest I get it come back I ask for a salad as well ( because I got the urge for one) so I nicely ask for a side salad as well. She then says."what else do you need?!" ( Like I was a nuisance for asking her to bring me what I need) Still being nice, I simply said no. I ordered the shrimp and it was all bread, super chewy, and the shrimp were so tiny. The waitress came back after I tried to eat three I quit and asked for the manager because the food was too hard to even chew. From this point on the lady starts telling me no she will not get the owner. Starts yelling at me as well as my sister. She even went as far to scream and put her finger in her face. The owner of this place did not apologize or try to correct the situation. Instead he said she has been here a long time .. And also ate a piece of my food after my hands has already been in it. Then proceeded to say there is nothing wrong with the shrimp. Then gave it to other customers sitting by U.S. To try and they said there is too much bread and the shrimp were too little. The owner was rude and tells me there is nothing wrong with your food! ( Eating from my same basket.. Disgusting) there was no customer service displayed and any sign of humanity from him. Not even when his worker was yelling and screaming and pointing. Worse way I have ever seen anything handled. LET IT BE KNOWN THE OWNER IS SCUM! HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HIS CUSTOMERS! HE SEEMS TO THINK THAT BECAUSE HE HAS OTHER PEOPLE THERE HE DOES NOT NEED TO TREAR HUMANS LIKE HUMANA OR CUSTOMERS LIKE CUSTOMERS. WHATS WORSE I JUST READ HE KICKED A GROUP OF ELDERS OUT IN THEIE 70'S! DO NOT WASTE HOIR TIME OR MONEY IN THIS PLACE. THE MAN AS WELL AS HIS FOOD ANS OLD LASY BARTENDER ARE HORRIBLE!

I have lived in the area for 10 years and have never been to The Hitching Post. A non-descript little joint off the trail, with a huge co....rooster out front. When we walked in, I thought it was pretty cool. What I found uncool was the picnic table family-style seating. The wait staff was friendly enough, but wasn't around when you needed them. At the lunchtime hour, the poor girl we had was all over the place, seemingly the only server working. The menu had some interesting eats, from rattlesnake, frog legs and gizzards to pizza, sandwiches and burgers. I had a frosty Strongbow Gold and a Western burger. The real steak burger was tasty. It was cooked just like I ordered it, was flavored well and was a good size. I was impressed by the fries. They.were.the.jam! Crisp and well-flavored, these too were not in short supply. My husband accidentally spilled a full beer in his dollar store flimsy plastic cup, and the girl told him not to worry, that she'd take care of it. After we cleaned it up ourselves and she brought a fresh beer, we were dismayed that he was still charged for it after the conversation. Oh well, it was his fault after all, just a bummer. I think I will come here again after the snowbirds go home though. They monopolize the seating and the staff, and the experience would have been more enjoyable with regular rednecks and not pretend ones from Manitoba. One too many O2 tanks around, if you know what I mean. I have a friend who comes for the line dancing and bull riding. I will come back to check it out...with a definite side of fries!
